Building Markets - Haiti :: Buy Local, Build Haiti

This event is designed to develop and strengthen links between international orgnizations and NGOs  operating in Haiti, and women entrepreneurs running formally registered businesses. The event will also provide buyers with an appreciation of the diversity of goods and services available on the local market – and in particular from women-run businesses.

Gastronomy fair- Food Expo, conducted in conjunction with the Tourism Association of Haiti and Le Nouvelliste on October 2, 2011 at Parc Historique de la Canne a Sucre. 37 exhibitors from various categories exhibited their products as follows: fruits and vegetables, meat and fish, dairy products, beverages and alcohol, spices, snacks and other food products. more than five media covered the event which was visited by hundreds of visitors. Peace Dividend Trust, an NGO that has been working in Haiti since June 2009, recently won the G20 SME FINANCE CHALLENGE, an online competition organized by the G20 and Ashoka's Changemakers, with support from the Rockefeller Foundation. The prize was awarded at the G-20 Summit in Seoul South Korea on 12th November for the best proposals to finance SMEs in low-income countries on a sustainable basis.click here for read the whole article.
